Well, We Know How to Have Fun Also

While Allison was off roughing it in Wimberley, Aidan and I had some fun of our own. We actually did a ton with his buddies. It must have been so much fun that I hardly have any pictures!

There is this one...boys at Westside!

We covered a locker shelf for Allison with contact paper and did an entire glow science kit with sixteen projects. I only have a pic of the locker shelf. Bad mommy!

We went to the Pippilotti Rist exhibit at MFAH with Cathy, Liam and Grace Harper.
It was so cool!!!

We also visited the Ron Mueck exhibit which was very impressive, lifelike sculptures out of clay. Truly amazing.

Here our little art lovers are taking in a quiet moment. Namaste.

When Allison came home from camp we did take her to both exhibits as well. She loved both!

Rocky River Ranch

Two weeks. This girl went for two weeks this year. I received grief from friends and family for letting her go that long, and do you know what she said when I asked her if it was too long or just right? She said, "not long enough!" Moms just know their kids. RRR is Allison's favorite place on Earth. She is able to feel free without any pressure to perform academically, socially, or otherwise. We are not there to nag or annoy her with the day-to-day hassles of life. Hold on, why can't I go to camp. I need it more than any of these other people in the house!

In all seriousness, I am so happy that we can do this for her each summer. She is making amazing memories that will last her a lifetime.

The Bunk

First Night - Wranglers

Synchronized Swimming
This year Allison was in the advanced group. It was the only class that ran 2 weeks.
Her performance was so good at the end!

Harry Potter Night

 Allison and Grace
Grace is also from Houston, and these two became fast friends.

Crazy Girls!

Just look at those hands and the dirt! Pure camp happiness.

Drawing Class

One more fun pic...

This year she chose the following classes: synchronized swimming, archery, cooking, miniatures, gaga ball and 9-square in the air, challengers, and drawing. It was a summer to remember, and she came home saying she definitely wants to be a counselor one day. I am so glad we found this special place for our girl!

Concan with the Williams Family

We took the Williams family back to Concan again this year. They will be so close to river fun with their move to Austin, so we want to make sure they are pros.

Heading to the Frio

Fishing

Allison and Tim both caught fish in their ziploc bags. These kiddos had amazing patience!

I cannot go on enough about how awesome Allison is with Mary. She is going to be the best babysitter in a few short years. Her care and compassion is admirable and makes us so proud.

Butter Chicken

Both kids are quick to ask if they can help to make dinner most nights, so tonight it was all them. They made butter chicken, an Indian dish, which is rather labor-intense.

Aidan started the process, and Allison finished.

Sinking the chicken in the marinade.

Starting the onions.

Watching a little TV while cooking.

Taking over with the sauce.

Cinnamon Stick Mustache.

A little salt

Almost finished and smelling amazing!

Port Aransas

The kids and I were really missing the dogs, so we took a quick trip down to Portland. Omie and Papa Fred are keeping Lilly and Percy while the house is on the market. It has already been too long, and we are ready to get them back. Just need this house to sell!

Omie and I took the kids to Mustang Island State Park for a little beach time. It was fun!

Fourth of July

It is Independence Day, and we absolutely had to celebrate at home. It is completely legal to shoot off fireworks at our house, and since this will be our last July 4th here we were not about to be anywhere else.

The Dakshindas family came over, and we had a fun evening of eating America themed food, visiting, and lighting up the sky from our driveway.

I went all Pinterest-y and made a ton of red, white, and blue food.

and drinks...
