These Boots are Made for Walkin'

Aidan is, technically, walking! He still prefers high-speed crawling, but he has mastered about six steps at a time, and will do it throughout the day. Here's a video. I was not positioned well, so I apologize for not getting the full-body shot.

He's also trying to crawl out of his crib. I'm not really sure what we're going to do about this. Allison crawled out around 18 months, and moving her to a toddler bed at that age was not fun. Aidan is only 14 months! That just isn't happening! I walked in on this fit when he was refusing his nap. Doesn't he look joyful?

That is one other change he's trying to make. He only wants to take one nap in the morning. It makes for a VERY long afternoon. We're now going to start moving it back a little each day.

In other Aidan news, he's been pretty sick. He had two ear infections, and conjunctivitis in both eyes. Good times. He's doing well now, but this past weekend he was really uncomfortable. Hence, my lack of posts.
.
Allison has a runny nose, but I think she's avoided any infections. At least, I hope. She was well enough to pick out these crazy shoes, so I think she's in pretty good shape. They are really cute, but they are wild! They light up all over like twinkle lights when she walks.

More Days Inside

Thanks to this lovely weather we've been stuck in the house each day. It's really cold, and yesterday it was non-stop raining. Here are a few things that we have been doing around here.

This is one of Aidan's favorite tricks, putting a golf ball in his mouth and seeing how far he can make it fly through the air by spitting it out.

Yesterday we made Valentine cookies for Allison's class today. She did most of the work!

Then, this picture is just sweet.

Today we had to get out, so we took Christina a Valentine card at work. Allison thought she was hot stuff highlighting important documents at the boss lady's desk. Aidan was into everything.

Finally, this afternoon Allison asked me to curl her hair.

This was the result, and she was not pleased. She's trying to straighten it out. I can't say I blame her.

Hopefully the sun will make an appearance soon!

Preschool Mania

I have never been one to have good luck, but this time it was pretty bad. Monday morning Allison and I had to go to her school by 8:30 to enter in the lottery for the 4-year old classes. They literally locked the doors at 8:30. There were sad looking moms standing outside the locked glass doors the entire time with their registration forms in hand! The director announces that they are going to come around with numbers 1-100 for us to draw from, and then we'll take our registration forms up in order. Ok, great, did this back when we first wanted to enter the school.

Now, there are not even 100 people in the room, so it wasn't a huge deal if you drew 60 or 70. Along comes the bucket, and I draw 118. 118? How is that possible? Turns out there's actually 1-120 in the bucket. I am the third to last person to register. Of course I am in the room, so I don't completely give up all hope.

My first choice was T/Th + F enrichment for Allison and T/Th for Aidan. My second choice was M-Th for Allison and T/Th or M/W for Aidan.

This morning the director calls. She's an incredibly sweet woman and I was able to get to know her when I was on bedrest with Aidan. She let Allison join a Friday 3s class in order to help out for those months. Very nice lady. She informs me that Allison is the next in line for our first choice, and fifth in line for our second choice. Geez-o! You can hear in her voice that she feels for us.

For now, Allison will go M/W/F and Aidan will go M/W. Luckily she left Aidan in the T/Th class as well in case a child moves or something changes and we are fortunate enough to get the other for Allison. We shall see! What a mess though. It really isn't the end of the world, but those days are frustrating because there are quite a few Mondays throughout the year that they have off. Same tuition though. It's a smidge annoying.

Since posts are better with pictures, and certain people don't read and only look at the pictures (hee hee), here's the courtyard at their school.

Why Fight It?

Allison loves my phone. I still have trouble answering a call, but she can switch between apps and play the games I downloaded for her without any trouble. She can even play songs on it. I realize this is something I probably shouldn't admit, but when she's the spawn of this....

why fight it?

The Great Outdoors

We are suffering from some major cabin fever around here. This afternoon the sun came out, and we headed outside. Allison had a blast jumping in mud puddles and making a mess of herself. Aidan just sat in the swing and enjoyed the show.

Mission Accomplished

We finished the Valentine cards!

Stay Tuned

I asked Allison at lunch today what type of Valentine's cards she would like to give her friends. She said she wanted to make some with hearts and glitter like Special Agent Oso did this morning on Disney. Oh boy. After doing some searching, she chose this Valentine card craft. It's a glow stick bracelet. We're headed to search for materials after Aidan's nap. Stay tuned for the progress!
