Mommy in California

A rare post, just about me. :)

Melissa Paul and I went to San Diego for the High Tech High summer conference. Back in January the entire Grace School faculty watched "Most Likely to Succeed", a documentary about how the US's educational system has not adjusted to meet the needs of today's students. I will spare you all the details in the film. Let's just say I was moved and excited for my children that Grace is progressive.

High Tech High was featured in the film. It is a project based learning school, and I learned so many amazing things that I cannot wait to use in my classroom.

San Diego, as a city, is gorgeous. If only mere mortals could afford to buy a house there.

Miller Outdoor Theater and More

We are kicking off summer with a bang. We met Daddy, the Giffords, and the Williams at Miller Outdoor Theater to watch James and the Giant Peach. Miller Outdoor is one of those things that I say we should do each summer, and we just haven't gone. It was great. The kids ran around before the show and then really enjoyed watching the play. This is definitely something we need to do again.

We have also gone to see a movie at City Centre....

And taken over the Sombito's pool down the street. I'm glad we have nice neighbors!

Of course no summer would be complete without many pool moments. Here we are at the neighborhood pool, and they are playing some sort of guessing game. When you miss, you get dunked!

The fun has just begun!

Summer 2016 Bucket List

It's time for our bucket list! Allison had the great idea of using an actual bucket this year. They are going to pull them off of the string and drop them in the bucket as we go.

Our list has more on it than five families could accomplish in one summer, but we are going to give it our best go enjoying each thing we mark off.
